Terms of use and disclaimer

These terms of use (the “Terms”) set out the conditions for using K-Space Paint (the “Service”). By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the Terms.

This is an English translation of the Japanese original. If there is any difference in meaning, the Japanese version prevails.

Article 1 (The Service)

  1. The Service is a free educational web app for learning, hands-on, how k-space (frequency space) and images are related through the 2D Fourier transform.
  2. The Service performs all calculations inside your browser. What you draw and the images you insert are never sent to the operator's servers.

Article 2 (No medical use)

  1. The Service does not reproduce the operation or image reconstruction of MRI scanners or any other medical device. The calculations and how they differ from real MRI are described in “How it works”.
  2. Do not use the Service or its output for diagnosis, treatment, planning examinations, configuring equipment, or any other medical decision.
  3. Do not insert patient images or any other medical information that can identify an individual into the Service.

Article 3 (Prohibited conduct)

When using the Service, you must not:

  1. Violate laws or public order and morals
  2. Infringe the copyright, portrait rights, privacy or other rights of third parties (including publishing images made from images you do not have the rights to)
  3. Place an excessive load on the Service's servers or network, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the Service
  4. Distribute or publish a modified version of the Service while presenting it as if it were provided by the operator

Article 4 (Rights to images)

  1. The rights to an image you insert belong to the holder of the rights to that image.
  2. You may freely use images created and exported with the Service, for example in class or study-group materials and social media posts. However, if a third party holds rights to the original image, you must follow those rights.

Article 5 (Intellectual property)

Copyright in the Service's program, text, design and so on belongs to the operator. However, the rights to the open-source software used by the Service belong to their respective holders and are subject to their licenses (Software used).

Article 6 (Disclaimer)

  1. The operator takes as much care as possible but does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, usefulness or fitness for a particular purpose of the Service's calculations, display or explanations.
  2. The operator is not liable for any damage suffered by you or a third party as a result of using or being unable to use the Service, except in cases of the operator's intent or gross negligence.
  3. The Service may not work correctly depending on your device or browser.
  4. The operator is not responsible for the content of external sites linked from the Service.

Article 7 (Changes, suspension and termination)

The operator may change the content of the Service, or suspend or end it, without prior notice.

Article 8 (Changes to the Terms)

The operator may change the Terms when necessary. The revised Terms take effect when they are posted on this page.

Article 9 (Governing law)

The Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan.
